Job Title: Psychiatrist

Location: Syracuse, NY

Duration: 13-Week Contract (with potential for extension)

Schedule: Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts

A reputable healthcare facility in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Psychiatrist for a 13-week night shift contract. The ideal candidate will have experience working in inpatient psychiatric settings, particularly with pediatric and adolescent populations. This position requires direct and indirect care, crisis intervention, and active participation in a therapeutic team environment.

• Provide care to pediatric and adolescent psychiatric patients under nursing supervision

• Accurately take and record vital signs

• Assist with patient admissions and physical examinations

• Collect specimens and monitor patient intake and output

• Assist with hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities

• Transport patients as necessary and orient them to unit protocols

• Notify nursing staff promptly regarding any patient condition changes

• Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships

• Participate in therapeutic activities and intervene in crisis situations under supervision

• Ensure a safe and supportive environment through routine safety checks

• Apply age-appropriate psychological interventions

• Document patient interactions and observations in an EMR system

• Support unit management and uphold care standards

• BLS Certification (American Heart Association preferred)

• Mental Health Certificate (required)

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a psychiatric setting (2 years preferred)

• Pediatric experience strongly preferred

• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

• Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

• Must be comfortable working independently in an acute care setting
