Job Title: Part-Time Senior Accountant Job Description This part-time role is perfect for an experienced accountant eager to apply their skills in a dynamic environment. The main task is to spearhead the monthly close process, collaborating with the CFO and team members who manage daily transactions but lack formal accounting training. Responsibilities Lead and execute the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Perform manual consolidations in Excel, outside of QuickBooks. Collaborate with long-tenured team members managing transactional accounting. Coordinate with the CFO and former controller for training during transition. Ensure timely reporting to the private equity firm, typically by the 10th of each month. Assist in documenting accounting policies and procedures. Provide light support throughout the month to ensure a smooth close process. Potentially support additional consolidation and reporting tasks over time. Essential Skills Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel. Expertise in leading month-end close processes. Ability to work part-time throughout the month, with increased commitment during month-end close. Experience in reconciliation and financial reporting. Additional Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience with a strong background in month-end close. Experience in private equity-backed or franchise-based businesses is advantageous. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with remote teams. Comfortable with flexible hours, including evenings or off-hours as needed. Based in the Eastern Time Zone or able to work EST hours during close periods. Work Environment This is a 100% remote role with flexible working hours. The position requires availability between 9am-5pm EST during month-end close periods. The business is a $10M private equity-owned brokerage firm with a small, dedicated team of about 15 people, including a 2-3 person accounting department. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
